Overlooking the Douro
Cima Corgo sub-region of the Alto Douro Wine Region
Commitment to guarantee the harmony and biodiversity of the terroir
Made from small batches with minimal intervention, from the vineyard to the winery, Foz Tua’s process aims to ensure the maximum quality of the raw material. This is why we combine traditional production methods with cutting-edge technology and innovation. The vineyards, with a prime view of the Douro and the Tua dam, are managed in accordance with strict certification, thus guaranteeing environmental sustainability and the production of unique, high-quality wines. As it is located in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Alto Douro Wine Region, the vineyard has the distinctive characteristics necessary for the production of unique DOC Douro wines.
Besides the 2 hectares of vineyards, located between 185 and 270 metres above sea-level, where the grape varieties Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca thrive, the brand has planted 1.5 hectares of olive groves, as well as other small fruit orchards. Why? To preserve the harmony and biodiversity of the terroir, exploiting the best that the land has to offer.

Environmental Sustainability
A commitment to future generations!
Guaranteeing the sustainability of the planet and future generations is Foz Tua’s main principle. Since its inception, the DOC Douro brand has aimed to create wines of excellence that enhance the territory where they are grown: Demarcated Douro Region – Alto Douro Wine Region – Classified by UNESCO as World Heritage.
It is therefore managed by rules and principles that integrate economic, social and environmental development holistically. Believing that this should be the basis of any part of society, Foz Tua holds that the wine sector, whose main raw material is grapes, has an added responsibility in preserving the environment.
The commitment to a more sustainable world intersects the whole operation:
- The vineyards are managed in accordance with strict certification, guaranteeing environmental sustainability and the production of unique, high-quality wines.
- From the vineyard to the winery, with minimal intervention;
- Minimising the impact and use of chemical products;
- Diverse fruit plantations to preserve the terroir’s harmony and biodiversity, while at the same time respecting and preserving existing natural habitats;
Seeing environmental sustainability as a priority is intrinsic to our daily lives. Believing in respect for nature, adopting habits and processes that promote minimal intervention and maintain natural structures is innate to us and would make no sense to do otherwise. Therefore, the whole team, in line with these values, is governed by principles and good practice out of respect for our terroir.
